2008 GLOBAL INSIGHT SUMMIT TOPIC: CHILDREN WITHOUT CHILDHOODS

2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the landmark adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the critical midway point towards the accomplishment of the Millennium Development Goals, and the fifth continuous year of violence in Darfur just one of the many on going conflicts that are global security and humanitarian challenges.  As children feature prominently in each of these three arenas, the focus of the 2008 Summit will be "Children without Childhoods" and will cover children in armed conflict, extreme poverty, and HIV/ AIDS.
